Year 3 Spanish Flamenco Dancing November 2018
Year 3 enjoyed an interactive morning of flamenco dancing and music as part of their Spanish topic. The children’s attentions were engaged, with them clapping their hands and moving to the beat of the music, they became very excited as the dancer stomped her feet loudly on the floor. All children spoke in Spanish as much as possible throughout the workshop, greeting each other in Spanish and using as many phrases that they had learnt from their Spanish lessons.
Our Spanish Teacher Miss Rosello said ‘The students loved the physicality of learning the flamenco and learning the history behind the dance, why they flamenco dance, where it came from and why it’s important to Spain. It gave them a broader knowledge of the culture and why we are learning Spanish.’
Year 3 student said, ‘It was fun to do and I enjoyed the guitar music. I enjoyed learning about what your posture should be like during the dance. It helped me with using my Spanish because I’m not very confident to speak it out aloud.’
