Children in year 2 created a model of a habitat. In Science unit ‘Living things and their habitats – Habitats around the world’ the children explored how different habitats provide for the basic needs of various kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other. They learnt how to identify and name a variety of plants and animals in these habitats. The children extended their learning through an educational home project and created a model habitat over the half term break.

They chose variety of materials to create their habitat model, including paper, cardboard, clay, rocks, grass, sand, paint, and other art supplies.

This activity helped them to appreciate the importance of conservation efforts and the need to protect and preserve these habitats for future generations.
