Year 5 Learning Dome Experience November 2018
The highlight of this week has to have been the Learning Dome Planetarium that visited on Friday. The Dome was set up in the school hall and was an amazing way to support the learning topic of Science.
Each class in Year 5 spent a fascinating hour in this igloo-like structure, learning about the movement of the Earth and Moon. The pupils also learned about the position of the stars and planets inside in complete darkness. The stars were projected onto the roof of the dome and the children became enthralled stargazers and spotting different constellations.
Here are some facts learnt by the children in their own words…….
“The Sun is a star found at the centre of the Solar System.”
“It was really life like inside the Dome.”
“We learnt the names of some star Constellations, Orion and Draco.”
