Year 6 Heart Dissection November 2018
As part of their science unit about human biology our Year 6 pupils have had the amazing opportunity to dissect a lamb's heart, something which pupils don't usually do until secondary school. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience (although it was a bit gruesome at times) and learnt about the four chambers of the heart and the different blood vessels that lead to and from the heart. Pupils noticed a big difference between the left and the right side of the heart and were able to cut the heart open to see the inside more clearly.
The pupils will write detailed recounts about the experience as part of their literacy newspaper article.
There are definitely some budding physiologists at Lyon Park Primary School we look forward seeing them in the future!
