Children
At Lyon Park we believe that our children’s wellbeing is in the centre around all that we do. We aim to promote children’s wellbeing so they are able to thrive and reach their personal academic capabilities.
Here is some of the things we do for our children:
- We have a school council where students are encouraged to voice their opinions.
- Children have access to extra-curricular clubs such as sports and games.
- We have a large outdoor space to facilitate outdoor learning and play.
- We have a weekly celebration assembly for achievements in times tables, star of the week, value of the month and 100% club for reading.
- During break times we run a daily mile scheme, with enhanced physical activity with equipment set up for children.
- We follow the Jigsaw curriculum for PSHE which incorporates weekly circle time in the afternoons.
- Children can approach any key member of staff with any concerns or worries.
Here is what our children think about how the school supports their wellbeing:
“I know we have a welfare team that I can go to for help, and any teachers passing in the corridors.”
“I feel happy when I see the displays around school, they tell me lots of information.”
“I feel safe because we have gates around our school that are always locked, and only our teachers can open them.”
“My teacher does comedy and stuff to make us laugh, and he waits for us in the morning.”
